Kanye West, Fashion Designer? In Paris?

A source close to the designer told The Telegraph that West has made Paris his home in a bid to launch his fashion career.
The dedicated follower of fashion - who was a firm fixture in the front row at the autumn/winter 2011 catwalk shows - is said to be working on a high-end collection comprising looks for both men and women, from a studio in the centre of the French capital.
Our source also confirmed that West never made a bid to study fashion design at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art in London, as was reported by The Sun earlier this year, but has struck up a firm friendship with Professor Louise Wilson, head of the MA fashion design degree at CSM.
West has certainly been doing his homework: he was seen swotting up on the works of renowned fashion labels such as Rodarte, Jean Paul Gaultier, Chanel, Alexander Wang, Sonia Rykiel, Givenchy, Lanvin, Vivienne Westwood, and Jean Charles de Castelbajac during the shows in February and March.
This line will not be the platinum-selling artist's first foray into the world of fashion design however. Back in March, The Telegraph reported that West was working on a collection of scarves , inspired by the artwork for his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, while in 2009 he designed a range of trainers for Louis Vuitton, and also undertook an internship at Fendi. When his 'Pastelle' fashion line folded in 2009, he appeared reluctant of ever giving his dreams of being a fully-fledged fashion designer another go, telling Elle last year: 'Did you not see the Lindsay {Lohan} and Ungaro collection? That was 9/11 for celebrities doing fashion. After that I thought: 'Well I can't do a line now'.
But it seems West has fallen in love with the fashion world once again. He is rumoured to be presenting Céline designer Phoebe Philo with an award at the CFDAs (the fashion industry's equivalent of the Oscars next week) on Monday, June 6 (Philo must have been flattered by the fact that he name-checked her in his Dark Fantasy track "...and my chick in the new Phoebe Philo," and wore a Céline blouse to perform at Coachella).
