I've posted about the famous Parisian cafe - Maison Ladurée before, click here for a quick refresher if needed. But they've recently collaborated with a favorite character of mine - Hello Kitty! Okay, if you're like me you're salivating and suffering from cuteness overload. The cure? Head over to Maison Ladurée A. . .S. . .A. . .P!!! Love!

Simply Simple

With the barrage of statement rings, statement necklaces and statement this or that - I'm fine tuning it back to more simplistic times. Lately, it's the small things that have been catching my eye. (Out of all the bracelets and bright friendship bracelets, the photo from The Blonde Salad - all I see is the dainty heart ring on her right thumb. It's the small things people! Haha)

The Blonde Salad

Take for example, designer Phoebe Coleman's approach to thin bands, basic shapes and understated, everyday jewelry that is super simple. To check out more of Coleman, check out here.

Counterfeit No No

I know a few people who think buying fakes/counterfeit merchandise is, ummm - errrr . . . well they think it's fabulous to not drop a load of money and still look spectacular. They've even tried to persuade me to join their side (oh the shame! I kid, I kid.). I always politely decline because for me I like the thrill of actually owning the real thing and appreciating a designer's craft means something to me. (I know, a goody goody - no fun, blah blah blah.)

Well, the same motto hangs true for another individual - Mr. Manolo Blahnik himself. Don't let him catch you wearing a fake, he will definitely tell you a thing or two! Case in point - read below.

He says he saw two Chinese women sporting shoes that were unmistakably of his design, "but in a wonderful color I had never seen before. So I asked: 'Where did you get your shoes?' 'Manolo Blahnik.' I said: 'No, my dear: these are not Manolo, these are plastic! With a horrid little plastic buckle!'"

Good for him! Love it!

Louis Vuitton Circa 1800s

I know I've already did a couple of postings for the Louis Vuitton x Marc Jacobs exhibit happening in Paris but I just couldn't help myself. It's nice to see where Louis Vuitton started and what Marc Jacobs has brought to the table during his tenure there. Check out some images and clothing from the 1800s. Love!

Ciate Nail Polish

Personally, I'm an Essie girl but then again, OPI has some vibrant shades that are my go-to's when in doubt and Illamasqua hands down has the best neons and grey shades to match every skin tone.

After discovering Ciate, I might have to make more room for another favorite. Check out their latest nail treatment - the caviar manicure. The caviar treatment creates a 3D look with high shine, surface interest and a huge impact. To get the look yourself, click here.

Oh, and if you want the Adele x Louboutin inspired look (How awesome is this?! Even a neon pop of color underneath would be perfect for summer! Hint...hint.) click here. Love!

Natalia Brilli's "Sheathing" Spectacular

I first stumbled upon Natalia Brilli's wrapped leather objects when I spotted it on designer - Jen Kao's wrist. Not quite a wactch, and almost a bracelet but none the less, super cool!

Taking up to 4 days for each individual piece to make, Brilli uses a technique from the 1930s in which she has dubbed "sheathing". Using objects that have been fetished/worshipped (i.e. pearl necklaces, microphones or skateboards) - she strips them down to its core and wraps them in a special leather that has been tanned in secret method she won't divulge.

Secret or not - these objects are subtle, understated but scream Margiela-like quirky cool. Love!

Kristen McMenamy x MAC

Watch Kristen McMenamy (for lack of better word - painted - with bright hued pinks, oranges, and green MAC makeup) in a movie theatre watching a screen we can't see (there was actually nothing but a blank screen!) What a range of emotions McMenamy conveys for such little inspiration is actually quite impressive.

MAC's Reel Sexy collection launches on April 5 in the US and internationally in May.

To Peplum Or Not To Peplum

So the new thing is to peplum. No, this is not a new dance craze or dieting scheme - but a ploy from the fashion industry to add extra volume around the waist. To keep it real - I'm a bit skeptical about adding extra "weight" around this area, since we were always told to cinch the smallest part of our mid-section.

However, it is Spring and we're giving way to new fashion ideas. If the Man Repeller and other big fashion players are pushing it (hello Marc by Marc Jacobs) - we can do it too! What do you think? Is it a go, or a no go?

Prints On Prints

Embracing warm weather with open arms - we find ourselves coming out of our safe cocoon of an all black wardrobe from winter and slowly ease into Spring with full impact prints. Take cue from the real life fashionistas from the streets of the Fall '12 runway shows and pile on the prints. The more - the better . . .  Love!

Vika Gazinskaya's Mix-N-Match Sweater

Spring Cleaning

Art is art - plain and simple. I am always looking at The Coveteur's website - and always amazed how the world's fashionistas put their homes/closets together. If you need proof, check out how the Hilfiger's pair their Haring (his original doors from his NYC apartment!) and Basquiat with their fancy footwear. Love!

Alber Elbaz - Lanvin 10 Year Book

One of my favorite things to do is read/research. I can get lost in a book, magazine, fabric store, bead/embellishment shop for hours. Everyone has their own creative process and Alber Elbaz is no different. To celebrate his 10 year accomplishment with Lanvin, a book was made in his honor. Check out some of the stellar images below by photographer But Sou Lai. To own a copy of your own, click here. Love it!
