What better news on a Friday than the announcement of a new soon-to-be Maison Ladurée shop opening in SoHo this September! It will take over the current Barolo space on West Broadway and offer a tearoom, a full service restaurant with private rooms and a garden terrace. Love it!
The much anticipated biannual magazine, "CR Fashion Book" is slated to make its debut in September. However, Roitfeld can't contain her excitement and wants you to get amped too! Check it out here. Love it!
With Hedi Slimane as the new creative director for Yves Saint Laurent, change is sure to come, starting with its name. Soon to be known as Saint Laurent Paris, Slimane is looking to modernize this iconic fashion house.
So what do people in the industry think about this? Yves' lifelong partner Pierre Bergé is in full support stating, "I’m very happy. Anything that makes the house more Saint Laurent is welcome. I am happy that Stefano Pilati is gone, just as I was happy when Tom Ford left." Wow. What do you think? Is Slimane taking steps in the right direction?
When you combine two über cool designers, expect stellar results that include retro 50's styling with temple arms that resemble the sexiness of a woman's legs and acetate with feathers inside - it's a win/win combination. Love it!
Check out Ryan McGinley's "Whistle for the Wind" - a comprehensive monograph by the photographer, filled with self portraits.
Why? Because McGinley was one of the youngest artists to have a solo show at the Whitney Museum, was named 2003 Photographer of the Year and awarded the Young Photographer Infinity Award by the ICP in '07.
Need more reasons? Just check out the book for more.
"When you do a runway show you have to amp things up in a way so that they read from a great distance — so that they are designed for photography rather than for a consumer ... And what I wanted to do was create clothes for real people," he told Grazia's Paula Reed.
"I think that's one reason why so many people in the world have switched off of fashion. They look at it as a spectator sport. They wanna see what everyone is wearing and how it looks, but then they put on their t-shirt and their jeans." - Tom Ford
Remember perler beads from your yesteryears of being a care free kid? I remember making tons of zoo animals, turning them into magnets and soon the refrigerator was covered with them from top to bottom. Enough reminiscing, someone has actually turned a decent profit off these babies.
Enter Victor-John Villanueva, the maker of the oversized pixelated portrait of fashion's elite including Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Wintour, Bill Cunningham and Andre Leon Talley to name just a few.
As luck would have it, Villanueva ran into Karl Lagerfeld himself while wearing his handcrafted necklace of said designer. How uncanny! What did Karl have to say about the necklace? "Send to Chanel, 31 Rue Cambon, Paris"!
Check out more Villanueva's website 3PTPOP here. Love it!
Inspired by Catherine Deneuve in IndochineandLa Sirène du Mississippi - Louis Vuitton continued their theme of layering by playing with tailored volume, geometric prints, elements of shine and paired with sky high platforms. Love it!
As of lately, I have been on a major footwear kick. To further prove my point are these unbelievable works of art by Sergio Rossi that are sure to elongate every leg, elevate the wearer's outfit a notch or three and to make them feel like they're worth a gazillion bucks! You can have all that and possibly more by clicking here. Love it!
