She Bangs!

"And she bangs, she bangs . . . oh baby . . . when she moves, she moves . . . I go crazy . . . 'cause she looks like a flower but she stings like a bee . . . like every girl in history . . . she bangs, she bangs . . ." Oh, wait, this isn't about Ricky Martin's 2000 hit single. Whoops.

Lately, droves of celebrities have been sporting blunt bangs - including celebs like Zooey Deschanel, Lea Michele and Carly Rae Jepsen. If cut correctly, a fringe of bangs can frame the eyes beautifully and update your hairstyle in an instant.

What do you think? Are you bold enough to bang it out?

First Look At Saint Laurent Paris

When the new creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane, announced that they would be rebranding themselves as Saint Laurent Paris - many stood behind him including Yves' lifelong partner Pierre Bergé.

Well now we can finally see the results. The rebranding will only be applied to the ready-to-wear portion of the brand while the house's official moniker will still be Yves Saint Laurent.

What do you think? Do you like the new look?

First Glimpse of Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book

Carine Roitfeld's magazine, CR Fashion Book, is set to launch on September 13, 2012. Making sure you don't forget, Roitfeld is releasing tidbits here and there to build up the anticipation.

In this sneak peek, we see model Juliet Ingleby walking through a cemetery covered by a lavender veil blowing in the wind (of course) followed by three women clad in all black.

To see the image in motion and pre-order your copy of the magazine, go to CR Fashion Book.

What do you think of Carine Roitfeld's magazine so far?

Keepin' It Real - Alber Elbaz Style

Alber Elbaz is keepin' it real - by casting real women and men, age 18-80, for Lanvin's fall advertising campaign. The cast of "models" included a waiter, a milliner and a recent U.S. immigrant. The eldest "model" finally had her dream come true, she had always wanted to be a model in Paris since the age of 18, but instead was a showgirl at the Apollo (not too shabby if you ask me). Elbaz was more than happy to at last make her dream come true.

"I was interested to bring these clothes back to the street somehow, and seeing how they look on different ages, different sizes," Elbaz told WWD

Photographed by Steven Meisel in New York, the advertisements range from regal to punk-influenced. Creative direction was by Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Stephen Wolstenholme of House + Holme.

Look for the ads to debut in the September and a viral video on August 21 based on behind the scenes filming of the campaign. Love it!

CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists - 2012

Vogue Daily recently announced who would be in the running for this year's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists and present their current collections to the judges at the end of the month.

"The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund initiative was established in 2003 to help emerging American designers find success through financial support and guidance from an industry icon. Each year, hundreds of contestants submit an intensive application for the chance to win a cash prize and a business mentorship from a fashion leader like Diane von Furstenberg or Mickey Drexler."

As many of you remember, Joseph Altuzarra took home the grand prize of $300,000 last year with runner-ups Pamela Love and Creature's of the Wind nabbed $100,000. Not too shabby if you ask me. This year's winners will be announced on November 13, 2012.

Drum roll please - 2012's finalists are:

Andrea Lieberman of A.L.C.
Greg Armas of Assembly New York
Sofia Sizzi of Giulietta
Justin Salguero, Daniel Silberman, and Alina Silberman of Illesteva
Jennifer Fisher of Jennifer Fisher Jewelry
Jennifer Meyer Maguire of Jennifer Meyer
Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty of Suno
Tabitha Simmons
Greg Chait of the Elder Statesman

Nicholas Kirkwood's NYC Store = Shoe Heaven

Last week I made the trek to the Meatpacking District to check out Nicholas Kirkwood's first NYC store that houses his entire collection. Ladies - it was definitely worth the trip and the wait.

Everyone can spot a Nicholas Kirkwood from a mile away - his original designs are quirky yet uber cool and the materials immediately catch your eyes. Bottom line, you want these bad boys on your feet ASAP.

The 1,500 square-feet store is located across the street from the High Line on 807 Washington (between Gansevoort and Horatio streets). A secret plus? A private backyard garden - you know, for rewarding yourself and your feet on your recent purchase(s).

The Fifth Avenue location will carry the same lines as the SoHo store such as Wilfred and A Moveable Feast. Aritzia will be nice addition to the area whose neighbors include Joe Fresh, Zara and H&M.

The Front Runner Is - J. Crew's Kaleidoscope Pant

Totally not going to lie, I had a dream about printed pants. I know, really? Seriously?

Well let me explain first before you get you start hemming and hawing - in the dream, I was packing my bags to go on vacation and wasn't sure what to bring. (I'm sure many of you can relate.) So what did I think was my #1 must-bring item to have on vacation? Printed pants! I ended up packing any printed pant I owned (plus a few that I thought I owned that I might have saw clicking through the Louis Vuitton fall 12 runway shows . . . I wish!)

Anyhoo, while perusing the internet, I came across these cool Kaleidoscope pants from J. Crew. They're cut at the right length and have a cool retro print with a pop of red. Easily a statement pair of pants that can be worn with a crisp white blouse or casually worn with a t-shirt. To purchase click here.

A Lasting Impression

Lately, everywhere I look I have been seeing signet rings popping up everywhere - on style blogs, Vogue (which features the bling-tastic David Yurman rings encrusted with cognac diamonds, sapphires and demantoid garnets! See below and get ready to feel lustful.) and various magazines.

I recently purchased my own and I have to say - it adds a nice personalized touch to any outfit. Worn alone for a sleek but powerful statement or layered with thin rings - they are sure to be on every girl's hands soon enough.

Why: A very small but still possible chance to score a talon cuff at a discount. Score.

Lady D's Doppelgänger

It's quite remarkable to see Naomi Watts portray the late Princess Diana in next year's biopic Diana. It's so uncanny how they look so much alike. I'm sure makeup and all that jazzy clothing/jewelry helps but at a quick glance, they look exactly the same. Watts is currently filming in Croatia and is basking in the sun - on a yacht.

Fancy Projector You Got There

Technology and fashion have come a long way, and some would even argue that they even go hand in hand. For Franck Sorbier's Fall 12 Couture show, he projected visually stunning images (spanning from rays of light to an ornate chandelier) onto a simple ball gown and . . . well, you just have to see the results for yourself. So beautiful and inspiring.

Chanel Fall 12 Couture Nails

Painted with a shiny silver polish for the base and finished with a swipe of pink on top, Chanel went for a lady like look. Love it!
